Disaster Resilience

The “Skills Training Towards Employment” (STEM) program provides qualified individuals with training in technical vocational courses. In partnership with TESDA and its accredited institutions, we prepare participants for potential employment on our project sites while equipping them with skills for sustainable livelihoods, fostering both personal and economic growth.

Promoting environmental stewardship, our team members are involved in tree planting and coastal clean-ups. These initiatives foster a culture of sustainability and actively contribute to preserving ecosystems for future generations.

Dedicated to building disaster-resilient communities, our partnerships with the Aboitiz Foundation, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, and local government units focus on enhancing preparedness and response capabilities in vulnerable areas.

Capability Building

Aboitiz Construction is committed to building a better future for the Philippines. To support this mission, the company signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to refurbish TESDA Technology Institutions and establish Innovation Centers focused on construction and maintenance programs.

Aligned with the Aboitiz Group’s Great Transformation initiative, which aims to empower the workforce for the advancement of both business and communities, Aboitiz Construction has successfully trained 135 individuals through its STEM program. With a remarkable 80% employment rate, these individuals are now deployed in the company’s projects nationwide, contributing significantly to job creation.

Environmental Stewardship

As part of its environmental sustainability initiatives, Aboitiz Construction partnered with the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) to adopt a 1.6-hectare tree planting site in the Makiling-Banahaw Geothermal Reservation Area for three years.

Under NAPOCOR’s Energy Sector Carbon Sequestration Initiative, private companies are encouraged to participate in this climate change mitigation program by adopting a rehabilitation site based on priority areas for restoration.

Aboitiz Construction funded the Mt. Malaraya Environmental Protection Council, Inc. (MMEPCI), a Southern Luzon-based people’s organization, to conduct reforestation activities in the area and plant 2,667 trees. The program will provide livelihood opportunities for community members under MMEPCI for their maintenance and plantation duties in the designated site.

Disaster Resilience

In partnership with Aboitiz Foundation and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, Aboitiz Construction held disaster preparedness learning sessions for fishermen in Mariveles, Bataan, and Claver, Surigao del Norte, as well as farmers in Malvar, Batangas. Local government officials from Brgy. Buanoy and Arpili in Balamban, Cebu, also participated.

Participants learned the basics of disaster preparedness, emphasizing the importance of being proactive in safeguarding their families and livelihoods. The sessions covered how to create family resilience plans and develop disaster risk maps, which are crucial for minimizing the impact of natural disasters and ensuring community safety.
